For Halloween this year, I and a group of friends are going to the Renaissance Fair. Because of the season, they are holding costume contests, etc. Though not wanting to stray far from the ren fair theme, we decided to spruce  it up a bit and stand out. So we are going Steampunk! Thanks to many wonderful deviantArters, I was able to look at different ideas and concepts that have helped me form my own steampunk identity. I also used Etsy.com to find some home-made goods that are adding an extra flair. So this is a shout out to you steampunk fans who have "been there and done that". No, these horses are not ridden by knights. In fact, they may never be ridden ever again. These horses are run through auction with the hopes of being bought by a good owner. Usually they wind up in lot #10 - the slaughter lot. The horses that wind up here have 4 days to find homes until they ship off to their death. So what can we do? Well, the most "duh" option is to buy one. Most of them are under $500, and have done nothing wrong other than exist. Some are young babies, others are starving to death. So I ended up giving back Beaker, the Arabian. He tried to kill me every time I rode, and I didn't have enough time to try to work with him. So last Sunday I got a camp horse (went with the easy, and cheap, route) named Double Bubble. But I am pretty sure he will kick my face in if I give him any nick-names like Bubbles or Doubly Bubbly. =D So instead I decided to call him Trouble. It sounds enough like his name that he responds, but it's slightly more manly. He is a Spotted Saddle Horse (we think!) so he is a gorgeous paint, and gaited! I have never ridden a gaited horse before, and I don;t think I'll ever go back to a non gaited horse again
